HOUSE NORTHWEST MEX

THE BLACK HOLE OF CALCUTTA (aka my laundry room) gets an emergency makeover

I am probably the weirdest woman (while at the same time being the most prosaic) in the history of the internet to put up pictures of my laundry room's transformation. It has needed it for years. The house was remodeled by folks who were into wood. In the case of the laundry room, the wood was stained very dark and the room's salient feature besides hookups for the washer and drier, was a very large and very awkward built in shelving thing that spanned the length of the room and about a third of the width. I could not get behind the washer and drier to see what was wrong with them. So when the drier died and I couldn't get behind it to do CPR, I sprang into action (sort of). I bought a prybar and a crowbar and prised out the old workbench. Some scraps will be tossed while others will contribute to the cat steps I hope to make for my cat enclosure. Then I scrubbed it down and got paint. Well, by now you know all about me and paint. Flamingo Dreams for the walls, Bahama Blue for the ugly pitted cement floor (now cleaner too) and a pretty aqua I already had for the ceiling. Various bright trims on the doors and window, some new steel shelves and transluscent plastic drawer sets where the old shelves were, and I can almost find everything. And I can at least get behind the washer and drier now.

On the shelves in the lefthand picture is the paint collection you see so much of on my other pages about my house painting. It now has a home out of the heat of the solarium and on shelves and all.
