EGYTIAN BROADCOLLAR

Bette Kelley has written a book and numerous articles on how to make stunning broadcollars. She was selling kits on her website but the last I heard she was selling everything off and getting into another aspect of art. But she did have scads of inspiring pictures of broadcollars she had made in many fascinating color combinations. Here I went for the more traditional look as found in books of ancient jewelry--turquoise, blue, red, and gold. The Egyptians prized glass as highly as gemstones so they would have loved this. Shiny red tulip beads alternate with a gold inscribed long lapis colored bead for the accent. Basically, the entire collar is mostly a set of those dreaded bead ladders we all hate to make when starting brick stitch. It is also sort of brick stitched together with a lot of reinforcement, which is why it's in this section of my beading site.
